Throughout the summer, the Research Chair has published numerous texts in various journals and books in the field of gerontology (September 2021)
In August 2021, Marie Beaulieu, Julien Cadieux Genesse and Kevin St-Martin contributed a chapter to the edited collection of authors entitled Promoting the Health of Older Adults – The Canadian Experience.
Their text focuses on the fight to counter mistreatment through an approach promoting public health and is specifically intended for Canadian university students.

Also, in August, these three Chair members saw their commentary on the film I Care a Lot accepted and published in the Journal of Elder Abuse & Neglect, the only international journal uniquely dedicated to this research theme.
Their commentary critiques the film’s basic premise by referencing the latest relevant international scientific data. They do so with good reason. The film presents the main character as an exceptional entrepreneur who succeeds in building an international health and protective care empire through her court-appointed guardianships (or trusteeships) of older adults, despite her business model being exclusively based on their financial exploitation.
Roxane Leboeuf, doctoral candidate in gerontology at the University of Sherbrooke, and Marie Beaulieu, as co-supervisor of her thesis, wrote a scientific article based on a secondary analysis of interviews conducted by Ms. Leboeuf within the framework of her doctoral studies.
Published in the journal Écrire le social and accessible free of charge, this article presents the results of a research-action project documenting resident-to-resident aggression and the presence of wellness care of older adults living in private independent living facilities for autonomous and semi-autonomous residents. It incorporates the viewpoints of the older adults, employees and administrators of these facilities.
Lastly, in July, the Chair published the Summary Research Report on the needs study of the project .
It presents the outcome of the first of three phases of the project mentioned above; specifically, a needs study to develop a program promoting wellness care and countering resident-to-resident aggression in private independent living facilities for older adults.
