Mélanie Couture, Chairholder of the Research Chair on Mistreatment of Older Adults, participated to an international event on socio-gerontology

As part of the 2023 annual meeting of the Socio-gerontechnology Network in Utrecht (Netherlands) (Fifth International Socio-Gerontechnology Workshop, 28 & 29 September 2023, Utrecht – Socio-Gerontechnology Network), the Chairholder did a scientific presentation aiming to raise awareness to the risk of mistreatment via technology such as financial exploitation, violation of private life, social isolation and other forms of mistreatment: Understanding the role of technological innovations in the mistreatment of older adults: Examples from media and research. The increasing use of home support technologies for older adults has lead the Chair to add a research orientation on the subject to better contribute to countering mistreatment in this context.
