Mélanie Couture, Chairholder of the Research Chair on Mistreatment of Older Adults, participated to a panel of experts following the screening of L’automne où le bonheur sombra (The Autumn where happiness fell) at the Festival Cinéma du monde de Sherbrooke

Themes: Media

On April 11, Mélanie Couture, Chairholder of the Research Chair on Mistreatment of Older Adults, participated to a panel of experts discussing the issues and challenges of mistreatment of older adults shown in the movie L’automne où le bonheur sombra (The Autumn where happiness fell),

The movie follows the fictional story of Sylvie, an octogenarian living alone and enjoying life to its fullest, until in the Autumn an accident at home forces her to ask for help during her recovery. Instead of receiving benevolent care from her relatives, she faces mistreatment.

Even if fictional, this story presents a real issue that affects older adults everywhere around the world.
