RESERCH PROBLEM :

In Quebec, concerted efforts have been made over the past several years to counter the mistreatment of older adults. A new avenue has recently emerged, that of promoting wellness care. These two approaches are complementary and have to be combined to improve the well-being of older adults. However, the promotion of wellness care for older adults is poorly documented to date in Quebec. This approach, from which several practices are derived, is more widely applied in Europe. Quebec’s interest in promoting wellness care is part of a global movement. Thus, an increasing number of countries are developing actions aimed to encourage wellness care. In order to be able to adequately combine countering mistreatment and the promotion of wellness care, it is important first of all to document the approach to wellness care.

GOAL OR RESEARCH QUESTION :

To draw up a general portrait of the actions that promote wellness care for older adults through a systematic review of international French language texts with the aim of identifying the essential methods of intervention for social workers in Quebec.

OBJECTIVES :

The project has five objectives:

  1. Describe the approach to wellness care.
  2. Present the various definitions of wellness care.
  3. Explain issues related to wellness care.
  4. Identify projects / tools that promote wellness care for older adults abroad and in Quebec.
  5. 5. Explain how to apply a wellness care approach to older adults in Quebec.

METHODOLOGY :

Systematic international literature review:

Data sources:

  • Six French-language online data banks.
