Since the winter of 2010\u20132011, the Chair has sought to expand knowledge to better understand and counter the mistreatment of older adults. This core objective will be reached through two following orientations:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Orientation 1 \u2013 Production of knowledge: This orientation is divided in two parts, being to lead original research on mistreatment of older adults and wellness care and to develop knowledge synthesis (literature review, scoping review, systematic review, etc.). This work will be theoretical, empirical or practical (praxeological), or even evaluative. When it is possible and relevant, the Chair favors collaborative and partnership projects with different types of actors (public, private or community organizations). This research work will address concepts that are necessary to understand these phenomenon (forms and types of mistreatment and wellness care, etc.), or even be about actors, dynamics, risk or vulnerability factors and protection factors, consequences, interventions (prevention, detection, follow-up, coordination), obstacles or drivers for help request or reporting etc. Notably, particular attention can be given to sub-groups of older adults (ethnocultural communities, LGBTQ+ older adults or other), to forms or types of mistreatment in particular or even the different living environments of older adults (at home, different collective living environment such as private seniors\u2019 residences, intermediate resources, family type resources, long-term care facilities, senior housing, etc.<\/p>\n

Orientation 2 \u2013 Knowledge transfer: It is about taking the necessary actions to transmit the Research Chair\u2019s work to different audiences such as the scientific community, public policies planners, in training researchers, practitioners, older adults and associations which represent them and the general public. Diverse strategies are used: symposium by communications with arbitration or invitation, expert seminars, articles in scientific journal, research reports, conferences, participation to forum, internship offer, webinars, video conferences, presence on television, audio or written medias, etc.<\/p>\n
