The research project L’intervention policière en matière de lutte contre la maltraitance : développement et implantation d’un modèle de pratique (Police Intervention on the Subject of Countering Mistreatment: Developing and Implementing a Practice Model) has now started !

This project in collaboration with the service de police de la ville de Montréal(Montréal Police Department) has the goal of developing a model for police practice to counter mistreatment towards older adults.

Goals / Key activities

• Review police practice on the subject of countering mistreatment towards older adults and document the knowledge

• Identify, with surveys, case studies and individual interviews, the needs of police officers on the subject of countering mistreatment towards older adults

• Implement and adapt tools of case study research (detection)

• Elaborate an implementation protocol to present the practice model to police officers and distribute the detection tools of mistreatment towards older adults

• Identify and support the winning accompaniment practice and intersectoral collaboration

• Evaluate the developed tools and modify them according to their practical use (if needed)

• Facilitate the knowledge transfer, distribute the results, the documents and tools
