The Chair presents two conferences as part of a symposium about mistreatment towards older adults from cultural communities. (December 2018)

Themes: Conference

On November 22 a symposium took place in Montréal “À la rencontre de la diversité : Comment intervenir face à la maltraitance envers les personnes aînées des communautés culturelles ” (A meeting with diversity: How to intervene in front of mistreatment of older adults from cultural communities). It was the first symposium organised by Louise Buzit Beaulieu, national coordinator specialised in countering mistreatment towards older adults from cultural communities.

Many speakers took part in this day which brought together about 150 participants. Marie Beaulieu, Chairholder, was invited to do two presentations. First, a conference entitled : ” L’état des connaissances quant aux interventions face à la maltraitance envers les personnes aînées d’origine immigrante ” (The state of knowledge regarding interventions in front of mistreatment of older adults of immigrant origin) , then a workshop about the results of the DAMIA project and the content of the practice guideline DAMIA. Elements specifically about the cultural communities were highlighted during this workshop.

The day as a whole was a great success!
