Only one year after it was officially posted online on the government’s website, a review of the Guide de référence pour contrer la maltraitance envers les personnes aînées (Reference Guide to Counter Mistreatment of Older Adults) has already started. The Chair actively collaborated for the creation of the first version. This is why Paul Martel, regional coordinator on countering mistreatment towards older adults of the region of Estrie and co-author of the Reference Guide, asked again for the collaboration of the Chair to improve many aspects.
Among the reworked sections by the Chair are : the continuum of services and the roles linked to prevention, identification, intervention and coordination; the interventions for specific clienteles; the sheet explicitly about the presentation of the Research Chair on mistreatment of older adults. The Chair will also improve the information addressing the intersectoral approach, wellness care, police practices, mistreatment between residents, the reporting of mistreatment situations in housing environments, as well as linking research and practice.
Since many other actors where asked to review the Reference Guide, the pooling of proposed modifications should take some time. The 2nd version of the Reference Guide is planned to be available online on the Ministry’s website during the year 2015.
