The Association Québécoise de prévention du suicide (Québec Association for Suicide Prevention) (AQPS) publishes a report on the prevention of older adults’ suicide in Québec in which the Chair collaborated

The report entitled  La prévention du suicide des aînés au Québec : Comprendre, s’inspirer et agir (The Prevention of Older Adults’ Suicide in Québec: Understanding, inspiring and acting), was written and published by the AQPS with the support of the Ministry of The Family and Seniors, as well as the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

It is the follow up of sixteen Journées régionales sur le suicide et les aînés (Regional Days on Suicide and Older Adults) which took place in 2011 and 2014.

This document has the goal of describing the situation of older adults’ suicide in Québec to the general population : decision makers, professionals, older adults and relatives to raise awareness to this social issue which can be prevented and more actions should be done against it. It is composed of three sections : Understanding, Inspire and Act, which address respectively : the state of the situation of older adults’ suicide in Québec, prevention initiatives realised in Québec and around the world, as well as the needs and ideas of people who participated to the Journées régionales sur le suicide et les aînés (Regional Days on Suicide and Older Adults) to improve the prevention of this issue.

As well as having been a member of the steering committee of this project, and having offered two conferences as part of the Journées régionales sur le suicide et les (Regional Days on Suicide and Older Adults), the Chair contributed to the writing of a section on mistreatment towards older adults which is presented as a predisposing factor to suicide in the section Understanding of the report.
