Following the adoption of a resolution by the UN World Health Organization in 2011, June 15 was designated as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. This day is dedicated to idea that older adults have the right to live with dignity, in security and without any form of abuse.
In support of this day, the Research Chair made available a PowerPoint presentation produced for the Partnership Forum to Counter the Mistreatment of Older Adults held May 23, 2019 in Quebec City.
In particular, the Research Chair’s mandate within this partnership forum was to open discussions about interventions with older adults’ in vulnerable situations. To do this, Marie Beaulieu’s video and the PowerPoint that accompanies it, focuses on the different facets of “vulnerability” in cases of older adults’ mistreatment.
The Chair also made available a video describing the results of the DAMIA (Demande d’Aide en contexte de Maltraitance et d’Intimidation envers les Aînés – Seeking Help in Response to Mistreatment and Bullying of Older Adults) research project. The video will be shown at a conference of international experts in the prevention of older adults’ mistreatment organized by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (INPEA) to be held June 14 and 15 in Krakow, Poland.
