Marie Beaulieu speaks of financial mistreatment on ‘Medium large’, a program broadcast on Radio-Canada Première (April 2019)

Themes: Awareness Media

The interviews followed media coverage of a recent upsurge in serious cases. The host wanted to dig deeper into the subject with four experts, including:

  • Marie Beaulieu, Chairholder of the Research Chair on Mistreatment of Older Adults;
  • Melanie Couture, researcher with the Center for Research and Expertise in Social Gerontology;
  • Anna Kamateros, notary and legal advisor;
  • Nicolas Senet, social worker at the Verdun Long-term Care Residence (CHSLD).

During the 40-minute broadcast, listeners could learn more about the risk factors and vulnerability of older adults associated with financial abuse, about the consequences of such mistreatment and also, the means of prevention and possible response.

Resources such as the Ligne Aide Abus Aînés (Elder Mistreatment Hotline) (1-888-489-2287) were also presented.
