The aim of this project is to document, in theoretical and practical terms, the psychological, material and financial abuse of older adults whose handicaps put them in disadvantageous or vulnerable situations.
Using a participative approach, the research team will undertake this study by looking at multiple cases of psychological as well as financial and material abuse. The research team’s ultimate objective is to deliver recommendations concerning prevention, detection and intervention to various parties such as: seniors’ and handicapped persons’ associations, public health and social services networks, community organizations, and public policy officials (ministers and governments), etc.
The project is well underway. The research team is presently working on an editorial review of its’ writings and finalising its request for approval from the Research Ethics Committee.
