On October 20 and 21, the Chair welcomed Mélanie Oudewater and Dominique Langhendries from Respect Seniors l’Agence wallonne de lutte contre la maltraitance des aînés(The Walloon Agency to Counter Mistreatment of Older Adults in Belgium). The goal was to continue the advancement of the project Sensibiliser le grand public et former les futurs intervenants à la maltraitance envers les personnes aînées : Expérience croisée Wallonie-Québec (Raise Awareness of the General Public and Train the Future Practitioners in Mistreatment of Older Adults: Crossed Experience Wallonia-Québec) .
During those two days, feedback on the adaptation of the Quiz on mistreatment that the Walloon Agency created was given. Some members of the Chair could read this new tool and propose improvements. The training elements of practitioners related to it were also deepened, as well as the methodological aspects allowing to evaluate the adaptation of the tool and the training. Guide lines for future collaboration were also explored to plan a follow up to this project which will end in spring 2015. Finally, Mrs. Oudewater and Mr. Langhendries were invented to co-host the class on mistreatment given by Marie Beaulieu for the masters in social work at the University of Sherbrooke. They addressed the Walloon practices on countering mistreatment towards older adults. Their presentation received positive feedback from the students that were present.
