As part of a collaborative work with the Institut National de Santé Publique (National Institute of Public Health)(INSPQ), the Chair publishes a research report on the identification of mistreatment

Themes: Detection

The report Recherche de cas de maltraitance envers les personnes aînées par des professionnels de la santé et des services sociaux en première ligne (Case Research on Mistreatment of Older Adults by Professionals of  Frontline Health and Social Services) has just been made public. As part of the production of the Plan gouvernemental pour contrer la maltraitance envers les personnes aînées 2010-2015 (Governmental Action Plan to Counter Mistreatment of Older Adults 2010-2015), the Chairholder started a reflection on the validity of many detection tools (case research). Following a specific mandate from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, in partnership with Pierre Maurice and Julie Laforest (INSPQ), Marie Beaulieu and Louise Belzile continued the work thoroughly.

Fifteen validated case research tools of mistreatment towards older adults that can be used by frontline workers were identified and analysed according to their psychometric qualities. The report also includes a section on training and deployment of programs aiming to identify mistreatment situations. The research report is now available online:
