From May 1 to 10, the Chair hosted Dominique Terrason, chief of the project to prevent and fight against mistreatment in the social and socio-medical sectors in France, and Alice Casagrande, director of training, innovation and community living at FEHAP, Vice-President of the Commission to Promote Wellness Care and Fight Against Mistreatment of Vulnerable Persons and Co-president of the Atelier « Métiers » de la concertation nationale Grand Âge et Autonomie.

The objective of this official French mission to Quebec was to exchange information concerning actual practices in the fight against mistreatment and the promotion of wellness care, with a view to developing public policy concerning mistreatment of vulnerable adults. In France, development of such public policy is presently on-going.

During the week, the French delegation had the opportunity to join the Research Chair team in several working sessions and also to meet different partners with active roles in the fight against mistreatment, such as: The Elder Mistreatment Helpline, The Curateur public (Public Curator’s Office), The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse (Quebec Human Rights and Youth Protection Commission), The Secrétariat aux aînés (Seniors’ Secretariat), etc. In return, the Research Chair team learned more about the actual situation in France and practices currently deployed in the fight against mistreatment and the promotion of wellness care.
