On November 1, 2018, the Chair tabled a research report concerning promising avenues to counter the mistreatment of older adults. This report is directed to public policy planners in the Western Pacific region (as defined by the WHO).

Based on documentary research, including scientific writings and grey literature produced at international and local levels, the report describes the state of knowledge and the practices in countering mistreatment and negligence in the Western Pacific region.

Diverse definitions of mistreatment and negligence, risk factors, vulnerability, protection against mistreatment, as well as an evaluation of certain practices to counter mistreatment, are included.

The report ends with a series of suggestions for countering mistreatment and negligence of older adults within the Western Pacific region of the World Health Organization (WHO).

A fact sheet concerning this project can be viewed on the Chair’s website.
