The Research Chair on Mistreatment of Older Adults wishes to highlight this international event by sharing a video to promote the free training Pour que vieillir soit gai (so that aging is gay).

The Fondation Émergence, which counters homophobia and transphobia, offers this training in order to raise awareness among intervention workers of the reality of the LGBTQ older adult population.

Pour que vieillir soit gai aims to equip these intervention workers to create more inclusive spaces for LGBTQ older adults, who represent about 10% of the overall older adult population and still remain largely invisible.

You can view this video via this link.

The Research Chair is also part of the Advisory Committee of Fondation Émergence’s Pour que vieillir soit gai.

In conclusion, did you know that non-respect of sexual orientation or gender identity constitutes sexual mistreatment according to the terminology of mistreatment of older adults in Quebec?
