The consultation day, held on September 28, 2017, was part of the work to develop the 2018-2023 action plan stemming from the Aging and Living Together, at Home, in One’s Community, in Quebec. Minister responsible for Seniors and Anti-Bullying, Ms. Francine Charbonneau, was present for the occasion.

Among the seven themes to be addressed by the participants, the Chair wished to address the following themes: Enhance and support the social and civic engagement of older adults; Recognize, accompany and support caregivers of older adults; Make homes adaptable, adapted, affordable and safe for older adults. Periods of free discussion followed the presentation of each of the seven themes. Participating organizations were invited to submit their concerns and recommendations in the form of a memorandum to the Ministry of the Families and the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

This collaborative approach between the Government of Quebec and the organizations working with older adults is designed to identify the main issues related to aging, the avenues for reflection and the best practices to be promoted in the next action plan.
