The 7th working session of the open-ended working group took place at the United Nations World Organization (UNWO) in New York from December 12 to 15, 2016. This working group specifically looks at an international convention on older adults’ rights.

Marie Beaulieu participated as a member of the civil society, and as a representative for the INPEA North America (International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse). She was given the opportunity to react to the report provided by the independent expert, Rosa Kornfeld-Matte, which deals with the issue of countering mistreatment. In addition, Marie co-organized with colleagues from different countries a side-event on the importance of public policies to counter mistreatment, which took place on December 15, 2016 (View the video presentation). This was a very rewarding experience to attend discussions of the 193 UNWO members and engage a dialogue with actors from both developing and developed countries. For further information, see the summary of the work carried out during this 7th working session.
