In order to meet the needs of two projects, the ABAM-MF project L’action bénévole dans la lutte contre la maltraitance matérielle et financière envers les aînés (Volunteering to Counter Financial and Material Mistreatment of Older Adults),and the Veille scientifique internationale (International scientific watch) project, the Chair hired two new students and one new research assistant. Our new team members are Jordan Bédard-Lessard, Isabelle Maillé and Julie Carrier.

Julie, who is currently doing her master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Sherbrooke, has been hired as a research assistant for the International scientific watch project. Her work consists of conducting a systematic review of the scientific literature on mistreatment published since 2013 around the world and across various disciplines. Her work will contribute to improving the review methodology used until now. The references found will be then added to the International scientific articles section on our website.

Jordan is also working on his master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Sherbrooke, while Isabelle is in the same program, but at Laval University in Quebec City. Both of them received scholarships for their master’s project, which is the work they will be doing to help the ABAM-MF project move forward. Having joined us at the end of September, they are currently familiarizing themselves with the issue of mistreatment of older adults and the project’s specific topic: volunteering to counter financial and material mistreatment of older adults. Their contribution is yet to be determined. Jordan will be working in the Chair’s office in Sherbrooke, and will be under the direct supervision of project coordinators Marie Beaulieu and Jessica Calvé. Isabelle will be working in Quebec City, mainly under the direction of Sophie Éthier.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all three of them, and wish them much success in all their endeavours!
