On March 2 and 3, the Chair attended the symposium Innovation in Elder Abuse Prevention organized by the Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (CNPEA) in Toronto. This symposium focused on the development of the knowledge-sharing project. It was aiming at encouraging practitioners involved in countering elder abuse to network across the country.

More than 50 participants from across Canada and working in the field of elder abuse attended this symposium. During these two days, these participants had the opportunity to exchange views on challenges they encounter in their practice and on their possible strategies for action. Ways to support and guide the CNPEA in developing a national network for elder abuse prevention were also addressed.

Marie-Ève Bédard, who is a doctoral candidate in Gerontology at the University of Sherbrooke (under the direction of Marie Beaulieu) and member of the CNPEA’s advisory committee on behalf of the Research Chair on Mistreatment of Older Adults, was attending this two-day symposium. She was also interviewed at the end of this symposium. You can read the transcript of this interview through the blog of the CNPEA website (in french only).
